Zoleo Satellite Communicator

Satellite communicators can come in extremely handy, especially when you’re an outdoor adventure enthusiast. Wireless services have become essential to most, whether you’re trying to stay connected with friends and family, or while working or on the move. Years ago, these devices were much simpler, a lot larger and were mostly used as a recreational satellite.  These days, they are proving to contain many useful functions for you to take advantage of. There is quite the selection to choose from, but we’re here to tell you about our favorite.

ZOLEO is the world’s first truly seamless global messaging and personal safety solution for smartphone users. ZOLEO’s messaging solution is based on Iridium Short Burst Data, cellular and Wi-Fi. The compact ZOLEO device connects via Bluetooth with a free app on any Android or Apple smartphone/tablet and provides a constant global messaging experience that follows you in and out of mobile coverage.

Personal safety features include check-in, weather forecasts, and 24/7 worldwide SOS alerts that offer extra peace-of-mind when venturing off-grid. Users also receive a dedicated SMS number and ZOLEO email address. SOS alerts and check-in can be sent via the mobile app or directly through the built-in buttons on the device. SOS alerts are sent to GEOS, a professional 24/7 emergency monitoring and dispatch service that is included with the monthly ZOLEO subscription.

ZOLEO extends the user’s smartphone coverage to everywhere and routes messages over the lowest cost network available, making it the perfect solution for anyone who lives in rural or remote locations or for folks that travel out of mobile coverage for work or recreation.

When users travel beyond mobile coverage, the ZOLEO device connects with the app on their phone/tablet, allowing them to send/receive messages anywhere on earth via the Iridium satellite network. This network provides complete coverage of the globe through 66 interlinked low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites. When users are within mobile coverage the ZOLEO app delivers messages over cellular or Wi-Fi.

The battery life of ZOLEO is outstanding, giving you 200 hours, or 8 days of checking messages every 12 minutes. It is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -4°F to 131°F, is shock-resistant and features an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Compatible accessories enable it to be worn on a belt, tethered to a backpack, or mounted in a vehicle.
