How to Call Abroad
When making phone calls while abroad make sure you know how to dial correctly using an international prefix. To dial or text any country you must include its telephone country code in your dial sequence.
Using Wi-Fi Internationally
Using Wi-Fi in your destination country is a great way to stay connected while abroad. Many apps will communicate over a WiFi connection and allow you to send messages and video chat.
When using a public Wi-Fi connection always avoid sending sensitive personal information.
If you're trying to avoid using mobile services with international rates, turning on airplane mode will cut off your data and calling services and ensure you use over-the-top communications (like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp).

You need to have the Facebook app or the Facebook Messenger app installed in order to have access to making free international calls. You can use any smart phone—iOS, Android, Windows and other Facebook app-supported devices.
You can make voice or video calls plus send SMS messages to anybody else with the app.
WhatsApp also lets you send documents up to 100 MB in size which can make this a perfect app for business too.
