What you need to know about VoLTE
CDMA is the legacy 2G technology for voice and texting services. As technology evolves, transitioning voice traffic to using data networks is the progression of the wireless industry. This technology is called Voice-Over LTE or VoLTE.
Inland has elected to keep our CDMA and 4G/LTE networks to give our customers a robust calling experience, add redundancy to our network, and better serve our rural communities.
With CDMA networks decommissioned by national carriers, you may notice changes in your roaming voice coverage. Data and voice signals travel differently and provides varying coverage areas because they are different technologies.
LTE Data services will remain functional outside the Inland Cellular regional area.
VoLTE services are enabled for customers outside of the Inland regional area. You will not see an impact on services in the Inland regional area, because for the time being you will continue utilizing legacy CDMA services.
You will see a difference in your voice coverage outside our home area since our national partners have decommissioned their CDMA networks.
